There’s something about summer that makes me want everything at home to feel a little lighter.
Not completely different – just softer, fresher, and more effortless. I always notice that the smallest updates tend to shift the feeling of a space the most this time of year.
A new texture. A lighter tone. Something reflective, organic, or simple enough to let the room breathe a little more.

These are a few of the easy summer swaps I’ve been making lately that instantly make our home feel more seasonal:
Faux Florals
Fresh flowers are beautiful, but I love having a few faux stems around in the summer that always look good with almost no maintenance. Lately I’ve been gravitating toward soft tulips, hydrangeas, and natural-looking greenery that add warmth and life to a space without feeling overly styled. An easy way to bring spring indoors.

New Vases + Planters
I’ve been leaning into silver finishes and texture glass vases lately because they reflect light so beautifully during the summer months. Simply swapping out a vase can make a room feel refreshed and more intentional.

Pillow Refresh
One of the easiest seasonal updates is simply changing out pillows. I always gravitate toward lighter fabrics, softer neutrals, and subtle texture this time of year to make both indoor and outdoor spaces feel calmer and more relaxed.

Light-Colored Rugs
A lighter rug completely changes the mood of a space for summer. I especially love bringing in softer tones and natural textures in the dining room and outdoor areas to make everything feel brighter and more open.
The older I get, the more I realize that creating a home for a new season doesn’t have to mean completely redecorating or starting over. Most of the time, it’s the smaller, intentional changes that shift the feeling of a space the most. Summer always reminds me to simplify. Therefore, I focus on the details that make home feel more aligned with the season. These updates are subtle, but together they completely change the atmosphere of a space and make it feel more lived in, more seasonal, and a little easier to enjoy day to day.
